How to connect your Zelle email (IMAP)
If you see “AUTHENTICATIONFAILED – Invalid credentials”, the email server rejected the login. This is almost always fixed by using an App Password and the correct IMAP host.
Gmail / Google Workspace
- Turn on 2-Step Verification for the Google account.
- Create an App Password: myaccount.google.com/apppasswords → App: Mail → Device: Other (e.g. “Storehouse”).
- Copy the 16-character password (no spaces).
- In Gmail → Settings → See all settings → Forwarding and POP/IMAP → enable IMAP.
- In Church Configuration use:
- Email: your full Gmail address
- Password: the App Password (not your normal Gmail password)
- IMAP Host:
{imap.gmail.com:993/imap/ssl}INBOX
Outlook / Microsoft 365 / Hotmail
- Enable two-step verification if your account requires it.
- Create an App Password in your Microsoft account security settings.
- In Church Configuration use:
- Email: your full Outlook address
- Password: the App Password
- IMAP Host:
{outlook.office365.com:993/imap/ssl}INBOX
- If that host fails, try:
{imap-mail.outlook.com:993/imap/ssl}INBOX
Other email (cPanel, GoDaddy, church domain)
Use the IMAP settings from your email provider, for example:
{mail.yourdomain.com:993/imap/ssl}INBOX- Or TLS on port 143:
{mail.yourdomain.com:143/imap/tls}INBOX
Quick checklist
- Email is the full address that receives Chase Zelle alerts.
- Password is an App Password when the provider requires it (Gmail/Outlook).
- IMAP host matches your provider (see above).
- No extra spaces before or after the email or password.
- Save settings, then run the Zelle import again.
Still stuck? Confirm the same email and App Password work in another mail app (or ask your IT provider to confirm IMAP is enabled).
